“ Amazing, well priced Guate food. It's not a sketchy area ... Come here! NOW! Very good breakfast ”
“ This is a Guatemalan restaurant in Stamford. It is an establishment that's mostly visited by local Guatemalan immigrants. Being new to this geographical area, we were not sure if the area of town was safe. Well, it isn't in let's say in the "best" part of town. But we are adventurous for good food.. and went during daylight to play it safe.. Parking is tough. It is on a small, narrow street that got a lot of traffic so it was difficult to park... street parking is available. In terms of the food, it was pretty good and especially for the price. We had Tamarind drink, fried platanos, a pupusa revuelta (meat and cheese), large chicken tamale, meat platter of pork and skirt steak (meats were a little overcooked but the marinade was tasty and delicious). It comes with rice, beans and salad too.. What's nice is the amount of food they give you.. the two of us ate really well for $18 total. It is a small place, like a family run kitchen, but they decorated and remodeled so sitting there for dinner feels cozy. overall, I'd choose Chapines over some of the more expensive (but perhaps more sophisticated) "Westernized" Latin American restaurants (like Brazlian food @ Valencia in Norwalk). I don't like to pay $20 a plate when I can get similar type of food for $10. ”
“ This is a small Guatemalan restaurant in Stamford. I have only eaten the pupusas but they were pretty tasty and the portions are huge for the price. ”
“ The food here is above par but for the same low price as other restaurants in the area. ”
“ My work place ordered Pupusas from here and they were awesome!!! They delivered (took almost an hour but worth it!!) and all the food was hot and steamy. I'm used to Salvadoreño style Pupusas that come with a side of salsa and cortido (sp). These came with that as well, plus some Parmesan cheese , which in ended up liking. We order here at least once a week . ”
